Not every strong Pal can be bred; Palworld’s very best fighters, the legendaries like Jetragon, Frostallion, Shadowbeak, and Orserk, are catch-only. So “best to breed” means something specific: the strongest, most useful Pals you can actually make in a Breeding Farm rather than hunt across the map.
Below are the best Pals to breed in Palworld 1.0 picks, split by what you need them for, each with a real breeding combo and the numbers behind it. When you’re ready to breed one, drop it into our Palworld Breeding Calculator to see every parent pair that makes it.
The best all-round Pal to breed: Anubis
If you breed one Pal in 1.0, make it Anubis. It has one of the highest attack values of any breedable Pal (130), it’s a fast ground mount, and it’s a Level-4 Handiwork worker that speeds up your whole base, a genuine do-everything Pal. Crucially, it’s also one of the most breedable strong Pals in the game, with 233 different parent combinations, so you can almost always assemble a pair from what you already own.
- Element: Ground
- Example combo: Univolt Cryst + Moldron Cryst → Anubis
- Full list: search “Anubis” in the calculator’s Find the parents tab for all 233 routes.
Best breedable Pals for combat and mounts
The legendaries top the raw-damage charts but can’t be bred, so these are the hardest-hitting Pals you can actually breed:
- Anubis — 130 attack, 233 combos. The all-rounder above, and still the best breedable attacker with real route options.
- Aegidron — 125 attack, and a Level-8 miner on top of it, so it doubles as a base powerhouse. 121 breeding combos. Example: Jormuntide Ignis + Aegidron → Aegidron.
- Eidrolon — 125 attack, 262 combos — one of the most breedable strong Pals in 1.0. Example: Univolt Cryst + Blazamut Ryu → Eidrolon.
A note on the very top of the attack list: Pals like Bellanoir, Frostallion Noct and Eidrolon Ignis edge these out on paper, but each has only a single special breeding combo, so they’re far harder to produce. If you want raw power that’s realistically breedable, Anubis and Aegidron are the sweet spot.
Best breedable Pals for your base
A strong base runs on work suitability, not attack. These are the best breedable Pals for each key job — the number is the work level:
- Kindling (furnaces, cooking): Renjishi — Level 8, 44 combos.
- Watering (farms, cooling): Jormuntide — Level 7, 209 combos. Easily the best breedable waterer, and one you’ll use all game.
- Planting (berry plantations): Ophydia — Level 7, 315 combos, so very easy to breed.
- Handiwork (crafting everything): Solenne — Level 8, 62 combos. A top-tier crafter and a trending new 1.0 Pal.
- Mining (ore, stone): Aegidron — Level 8, 121 combos — the combat pick above pulls double duty here.
- Lumbering (wood): Warsect is the workhorse — strong Handiwork and Lumbering with an enormous 857 breeding combos, making it one of the easiest useful Pals to breed early.
For a couple of jobs, the strongest option is a variant with only one special combo; for example, the best breedable Electricity and Cooling Pals require specific single pairs, so if you just need the job done, a slightly lower-level Pal with hundreds of combos is often the smarter breed. The calculator’s Find the parents tab shows you how many routes each option has at a glance.
How to breed any of these
Breeding requires a Breeding Farm, Cake, and one male and one female Pal; the pair lays an egg that hatches into the child. The child species is fixed by the parents’ breeding ranks, so the combos above always produce the listed Pal.
To find a route using Pals you already own, use the Breeding path tab in the Palworld Breeding Calculator — it maps the shortest chain of eggs from a Pal you have to the one you want.
And if you’re breeding for passive skills like Legend or Swift on top of the species, the Passive odds tab shows your real chance of passing them down. For the full mechanics, see our How to Breed in Palworld guide.
